Wanda A. Alexander,  President  & CEO of Horizon Consulting Incorporated of Lansdowne, VA, purchased a majority stake in Horizon in September of 1995, immediately assuming the positions of President and CEO of the company. Her leadership has seen Horizon grow into a 130-plus-person organization and a position (#312) on the Inc500 list of the Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America in 2002 and Inc 5000 in 2010.  In June 2012, Wanda purchased the remaining 49% interest in Horizon from her business partner and Horizon is now 100% woman owned. 

Horizon provides high volume work flow management, data entry, loan quality control, appraisal management, and due diligence services to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other governmental agencies, multifamily housing owners, and commercial banks.

Ms. Alexander is a native of Washington, DC and is a product of the DC and Prince George’s County public schools.  She is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park and has over 30 years’ experience in the HUD-insured housing business to include single-family mortgage insurance, asset management, portfolio supervision and debt restructuring strategies for financially distressed multifamily real estate.

At Horizon, Wanda leads her team in adhering to Horizon's foundational principles of honesty, integrity, hard work and professionalism, while guiding the development of all of Horizon's processes, procedures and business practices, focusing on quality control and excellence in execution.  She motivates and leads the team to ensure the corporate culture is not compromised while designing and executing corporate strategy, ensuring the company remains true to its vision and stays fiscally sound.   In addition, community outreach is a key component of Horizon’s commitment to giving back to the communities in all the cities where the company operates.  Ms. Alexander was named one of the Innovators of 2012 by NOVAEXEC Magazine due to her creative company culture .

Ms. Alexander has been personally active for over 30 years with organizations that have created scholarships for minority women, taught investment training to elementary youth, entrepreneurship to high school students, provided direction and leadership to teens and mentored young ladies through and after college. She currently serves as a mentor to several men and women who have started businesses and attained much success on their own.  And because of her love of mentoring and coaching business leaders, she established Wanda Alexis Alexander, LLC in 2008 and has a growing client list of accomplished business leaders.

Through the years, Wanda has received many awards, including recognition from the SBA as Women in Business Champion of the Year, The Washington Business Journal as a Minority Business Leader, Enterprising Women Magazine as Enterprising Woman of the Year and by Smart CEO Magazine as a Smart 100 CEO and a BRAVA!
