Wanda A. Alexander, President & CEO
Wanda Alexander
purchased a majority stake in Horizon on September 1, 1995, assuming the
positions of President and CEO. Her
insight to pursue contracts in the cities where HUD had offices resulted in the
growth that earned Horizon the #312 spot on the Inc. 500 List of
Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America. Wanda has over three decades of experience in asset management,
portfolio supervision, and debt re-structuring strategies for financially
distressed multifamily real estate.
Before joining Horizon, Wanda spent 15 years in Asset
Management, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements of HUD's insurance
programs, addressing owner and management issues including Fair Housing, equity
skimming, unauthorized payments, insurance, and real estate tax issues. She has designed and directed training
programs on numerous housing-related issues.
Wanda received her Bachelor's Degree in General Studies from
the University of Maryland, College Park. She also
completed graduate studies in Family and Community Development at the University of Maryland
and has earned certifications
from The Institute of Real Estate Management and The National Center for
Housing Management.
At Horizon, Wanda leads her team in adhering to Horizon's
foundational principles of honesty, integrity, hard work and professionalism,
while guiding the development of all of Horizon's processes, procedures and
business practices, focusing on quality control and excellence in
execution. She motivates and leads the
team to ensure the corporate culture is not compromised while designing and
executing corporate strategy, ensuring the company remains true to its vision
and stays fiscally sound. Through the
years, Wanda has received many awards, including recognition from the
Washington Business Journal as a 2009 Minority Business Leader and a 2009 BRAVA!
Women Business Achievement Award.
